Deusto joins the Open Bio 2025 Festival once again with guided tours of three of its architectural gems

On Saturday, October 4, the public will have the chance to explore the inner workings of La Literaria, La Comercial, and the CRAI Library

As part of the 8th edition of the Open Bio 2025 Festival (formerly Open House Bilbao), the University of Deusto will open its doors on Saturday, October 4, so that visitors can discover three of its most emblematic buildings from the inside: La Literaria, La Comercial, and the CRAI Library. By doing so, the University of Deusto joins this initiative, which celebrates architecture as a living heritage, open to everyone.

La Literaria

On Saturday morning, the iconic "Universidad Literaria," considered the largest building constructed in Bilbao in the second half of the 19th century (along with the Casa de la Misericordia), will be open to guided tours organized by the Pedro Fabro Association. Advance registration is required. More information

Three guided visits will be offered:

11:00–12:00: group of 20 people, in Spanish, guided by Juan María Velasco.
12:00–13:00: group of 20 people, in Basque, guided by Maite Uriarte.
12:00–13:00: group of 20 people, in English, guided by Donna Fernández.

La Comercial
From 10:00 to 20:00, visitors will be able to explore this building, marked by clear Anglo-Saxon influences, and enjoy the charm of its wooden staircases. More information

From 10:00 to 14:30, the CRAI Library will open its doors to the public. This contemporary space, facing the Guggenheim, provides a unique backdrop right in the heart of Bilbao. More information

About Open Bio 2025

Open Bilbao is the city’s architecture festival, an annual event held every autumn that invites the public to explore some of its most remarkable spaces over the course of seven days. In addition to opening up landmark buildings, this year’s edition broadens its scope to showcase new ways of practicing architecture — from the vision of emerging studios to proposals that go beyond physical construction.
